Fletcher’s Challenge is an all inclusive, fitness positive event dedicated to the memory of Gavin Fletcher. Gavin, who passed away in 2006, was an athlete, competitor, and dedicated family man. He was a member of the Nanaimo chapter of Runner’s Of Compassion (ROC), “a non-profit society of physically active people dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of people in need.”
The challenge, organized by ROC, is held annually on Good Friday, and incorporates a rigorous 15k Trail Race, as well as a 6k Family Walk, complete with cookie station for extra motivation. As if that wasn’t enough fun, there is also an Easter Egg hunt to follow.
Last year, their were 184 trail runners, and a whopping 541 participants in the cookie walk!
Once again, Tranceformations is sponsoring the event. (It’s even rumored that some of our staff are participating.)
Many people don’t immediately see the correlation between the body modification industry, and the world of fitness. Perhaps it’s the lingering idea of a tattoo shop filled with smoke and leather clad bikers. But in our world, overall health plays a huge role in the health of a new tattoo or piercing. We ask a lot of our bodies, and the better shape they are in, the more readily they can heal and care for us.
For that reason, and so many more, we encourage our staff, clients, and anyone we meet to take part in fun, fitness activities as often, and in as many different ways, as possible. Fletcher’s Challenge is April 3rd, only a few short weeks away. You have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.
And if you need a little nudge, remember, they have cookies.
