Anti-Tragus Piercing

An anti-tragus piercing goes through the pronounced nub of tissue attached to the earlobe, that sits diagonally from the tragus. This piercing is anatomy-specific, as you need to have enough of a ridge to pierce through and for the jewelry to sit comfortably.

These piercings are done with curved barbells or flat-back labret studs, depending on the anatomy of the ear. Once the anti-tragus piercing is healed, a ring can be swapped for the barbell if so desired.

As the anti-tragus is a cartilage piercing, they take up to a year to fully heal. Depending on the anatomy, the tissue may be a bit thicker than other cartilage locations and may make the tell-tale "pop" or "crunch" noise that can be heard when piercing a tragus.

Healing Time (approximate): 6-12 months

Downsize: 6-8 weeks

Standard Jewelry Size: 16g

Standard Jewelry Style: Curved barbell

Although healing times vary for all individuals, these are average time frames that most clients fall into. If you are still noticing swelling around your piercing after 8 weeks, we recommend coming in for a piercing consultation so our piercer can take a look at the piercing and assess the situation.

Some piercings require multiple downsizes in order to heal correctly and fit comfortably.

If you prefer the look of a thicker piercing, or have had trouble healing piercings in the past and want a more stable piercing, our piercers may be able to pierce you with a larger gauge than listed above, however; for safety and healing we will not pierce with anything smaller.
