Bridge Piercing
Bridge piercings are a type of surface piercing that goes through the skin on the bridge of the nose, resting in between the eyes. These piercings are considered surface piercings as they go through a thin piece of skin, and they are anatomy-dependant to help ensure the longevity and healing of the piercing.
Like other surface piercings, bridge piercings are more prone to rejection and migration, which is why our piercers will assess your anatomy before piercing to give your new piercing the best chance at healing possible.
If you wear glasses, bridge piercings are still a possibility - just make sure to bring your glasses to your appointment so that our piercers can determine the best placement to reduce movement from your glasses.
Bridge piercings are sometimes called Erl piercings, which comes from body art devotee Erl Van Aken, a Gauntlet customer who is believed to be the first to wear one (at least in North America).
Bridge piercings are done with straight barbells, and can be adorned with various ends including claw-set opals, bullet-cut opals, titanium beads, and gold beads.

Although healing times vary for all individuals, these are average time frames that most clients fall into. If you are still noticing swelling around your piercing after 10 weeks, we recommend coming in for a piercing consultation so our piercer can take a look at the piercing and assess the situation.
Some piercings require multiple downsizes in order to heal correctly and fit comfortably.
If you prefer the look of a thicker piercing, or have had trouble healing piercings in the past and want a more stable piercing, our piercers may be able to pierce you with a larger gauge than listed above, however; for safety and healing we will not pierce with anything smaller.
