Daith Piercing
A daith piercing is a piercing that goes through the inner cartilage that sits just above the entrance to the ear canal. Daith piercings are the only ear cartilage piercing that can be started off with a ring, and the jewelry you get pierced with can be worn forever.
In recent years, there has been discussion about if daith piercings can be used to cure migraines. Although we are not medical professionals and there is no good data to prove if these piercings help with migraines, we can provide a beautiful piercing with cool jewelry that you enjoy.
These piercings can be done with nearly any kind of ring, as long as there is a bead or gem to act as a stopper to prevent the ring from moving freely through the piercing channel. This opens up the options of jewelry from something simple and classic like a captive bead ring all the way to an intricate clicker.
The daith piercing is a relatively new piercing. It was first performed in Santa Cruz, California in the early 1990’s by a piercer named Erik Dakota. His client named it the “daith”, which is pronounced “doth”, like goth with a ‘d’. The word daith comes from the Hebrew word “da'at” which translates to 'knowledge' or 'the knowing'. The client chose this word with the reasoning that the piercer must have been extremely smart to figure out exactly how to do this piercing.

Standard Jewelry Style: Ring, can be a captive bead ring, a fixed bead ring, a gem ring, or a circular barbell. Initial piercing jewelry must have a bead or gem on it to act as a stopper.

Although healing times vary for all individuals, these are average time frames that most clients fall into. If you are still noticing swelling around your piercing after 8 weeks, we recommend coming in for a piercing consultation so our piercer can take a look at the piercing and assess the situation.
If you prefer the look of a thicker piercing, or have had trouble healing piercings in the past and want a more stable piercing, our piercers may be able to pierce you with a larger gauge than listed above, however; for safety and healing we will not pierce with anything smaller.
